Adventures of Robinson Crusoe is the perfect example of a great story converted into a great game (which is hardly ever possible). Daniel Defoe may not have imagined in his wildest dreams of turning his great book into a thrilling game. Adventures of Robinson Crusoe is a hidden object adventure game where a player is needed to help Robinson Crusoe out of the dreadful shipwreck.

Marooned on an uninhabited island, you need to collect the objects of survival to see Robinson live! The game comprises of mini games, finding hidden objects and some inventory puzzles. The objects found through the inventory puzzles can be used to unlock the other items for completing your list. You may be at times asked to find random items and thematic on the others like “all cooking utensils” which makes the game even more interesting.

The game starts on the deck of the wrecked ship and there Robinson also gets the first idea of building a ship from the wrecked remains. With the completion of each stage, one will get the time to return to the site where the ship will be built slowly. For collecting the materials to build the ship, you will be required to explore some of the great places on the island like the swamp, forest and a temple. The twist in the tale is when Robinson finds that he is not the only person residing on the island!

The two modes for playing the game are Relaxed and Survivor; relaxed mode does not have a timer and also the number of hints per chapter is higher. At times the scenes look a bit childish and do not go down well with the matured gamers. Well, one aspect of the game that really amazed me was the puzzles. There are places where you have to move a certain object in order to reveal something from underneath. The black seagull sequence encountered in the first scene is a great example of one such interesting puzzle. The mini games embedded in the game were just mind blowing and turned the game interesting from time to time. The mini games can also be skipped if one wishes to.

Conclusion: There are surprises in store at every nook and corner of Adventures of Robinson Crusoe. Every scene is detailed to the tee and you go to do some serious brain work to see your job through. The game has a lot to offer in terms of graphics, audio and storyline. Graphics is near perfection and the audio is in sync with the riveting storyline. If only there had been a longer gameplay time things could have been more interesting. All in all ‘Adventures of Robinson Crusoe’ is a game to savor in the days to come!
