Autumn’s Treasures: The Jade Coin review
The game has everything that great hidden object game needs, a beautiful heroine, lost treasure and a trail of clues that leads all over the world. This game has a very intrigue item-finding mechanism that challenges us in every step. So there is no reason of not playing this game.
The heroine of our game is Autumn, who has inherited her father’s antique shop after his death. There she finds his diary in which there was a reference of a Jade Coin that would bring her luck. The coin’s location is to be found in the pages of the journal that were also hidden in various artifacts. These artifacts were auctioned in many times to various customers. Through the whole game our heroine seems to be always sleepy. The characters of the Game have well acted. But the player will be bored when he will get excessive statements that have no link with the play.
Autumn should find the pieces of items rather than finding the list of items (like Flux Family Secrets and the Mortimer Beckett series). She might have to find the bits of a crowbar to open a box, or assemble a wicker cage to trap an angry coati. The combination of puzzle solving along with object searches might sound great, but when you start playing the game, it turns out to be pretty monotonous. In most cases, you will be asked to locate some obscure metal and junk, which will be totally unrecognizable.
All your assembled objects will be used in the environment to help Autumn on her way to successfully complete her mission. Completing one task will get you more items that you need to arrange. Every location has about three levels, which will need you to keep sauntering from one room to the other.
The Jade Coin does provide some valuable help, though. Musing over an item’s silhouette will tell you not only what it is, but also show you what the bits it’s been broken into look like. Despite this, if you are not likely to find what you are looking for, all you need to do is to click on your grandfather’s amulet. This can be used as a rechargeable hint. You have the liberty to choose as many hints as you can, but every time you use, an additional five minutes keeps adding to your overall score.
Conclusion: Autumn’s Treasure: the Jade Coin is good at the ideation level, but falters when it comes to the execution. Visually, it is appealing and the sequences that are put up are pretty engaging and fun. However, because of its poor execution, this game loses out on its inherent replay value. As far as characterization go, they are clichéd. After a while, this game becomes irritating and tiresome and bland. Moreover, the item searches become mundane. There are better adventures to be had.
