EcoRescue: Project Rainforest review
It is the green gamers at work! Have you ever given the environmental problems a thought? Well, we all are facing a huge problem in the form of global warming and the sole reason (as cited in this game) is our fast depleting natural resources. This is not a problem that can be solved by a single person or a group but, everyone who considers this earth to be their home needs to take up the cudgels to save the earth from getting destroyed.
Sounding like a long lecture, isn’t it? Well, this was supposed to be a game review, but I couldn’t see anything beyond environmental issues! Ok let’s get out of this save-environment hangover and let me provide you with an environmental (read gaming) insights into the game; well it is supposed to be one. EcoRescue: Project Rainforest is a game that hops around the subject of saving the rainforests of the world. There are a total of 10 levels in the game where you would be cleaning up some of the most famous rainforests and their adjoining regions of the man made debris and environment threatening materials. This game takes you on a lifetime ride through places like North America, Southeast Asia, Africa, Southeast America and Central America.
The game begins at the Victoria: North America and you have to scour the scene for removing objects like plastic bottle, car key, rubber boots etc. You are supposed to find the objects in the classic hidden object gaming style where you are provided with a list of items at the bottom of the screen. The difficulty level posed by the hidden object gaming scenes is neither challenging nor satisfying. You hardly have any difficulty in finding the objects except at a few places where the objects are concealed nicely. The puzzles in this game require something more than the hand eye coordination and you really have to do a lot of things to solve them. Here the puzzle is presented in the form of habitat builder and you have to build homes for the rodents or some other animals. The most interesting part of the game is that you are able to see a lot of animals and places that may not be possible for a person to visit even during their whole lifetime. There is also the spot the difference game and one needs to find 5 differences in a picture.
Conclusion: EcoRescue: Project Rainforest is a game that is visually appealing but the gameplay is really disappointing. Sounds do have the touch of ‘mother nature’, but fail to win the hearts of hardcore gamers like us. The developers have failed in their approach to mix their good intentions with good gameplay. The use of the hints is actually of no use and most of times you would find it as a useless addition. The subject of the game is very sensitive and we cannot just laugh away the message that has been presented through the game. On the entirety there is no way to feel the positive factor of the game.
