The game Grandpa’s Candy Factory is one of those rare hidden objects game that has an inherent old world English charm in it. The title that is dedicated to making such condiments, is all just a little bit “chocolate box” itself. Speaking of the setting, the small snow-capped towns that is reminiscent of the quaint old streets that is so really represented in the past. The game is represented in a Disney style design and glorious theme park based sound track that gave the game a touch of glitter. In term of the premise too this game is just placed like fairy tale – that of a young graduate who returns home to take charge of her family’s traditional sweet making factory, while her Grandfather takes the much needed retirement. However, the evil Berthold is determined ruin the candy factory, and his notorious acts just keep getting nastier and nastier. As a player of Cathy Willmore, you will have to keep moving from one sector to the other, keeping a tab on both the ingredients and equipments as she moves into the next level.

In terms of the structure of the game, it is pretty simple and the idea of dragging the mouse to identical ingredients adds to the replay value of the game. The other ingredients do have their uses. As a player, you will need to clear the chains of superfluous ingredients. However, you need to keep a tab on the time when you are playing this game. When the candy factory begins to destruct, the machine will get corroded and getting them cleared is a herculean task.

All this makes the game slightly more complex and in pysicality you will not need to drag your mouse over matching hexagons. But as you move on in the game, the hurdles keep getting all the more difficult. However, bonuses and addons begin to multiply. Time can pretty easily be added to the clock and a series of successful match-ups filling a gauge can be triggered each time while you have to shake off the grid or when you have to get the machines installed. All this elements really add to the beauty and complexity of the game.

Conclusion: Grandpa’s Candy Factory is a game that is super high on content. Its developer has added numerous mini-games, which include searching for lost items in the study by clicking on every object on screen and linking up pipes in the chocolate machine that is neither challenging nor entertaining. As far as flaws are concerned, this game;s dialogues are a serious dampner. There are some concerns on transalation issues and the dialogues are really sandwhiched between various levels, which makes the instruction indecipherable and also unreadable. All this makes Grandpa Candy Factory a dampner of sorts. An easier tutorial mode would have helped, but once you start playing the game, the game is really cute, fun and adaorable. The plot / premise may be childish, but the various levels deliver on content and replay value.
