Little Shop of Treasures review
Little Shop of Treasures is a well-polished hidden object game with a nice step away from the common gameplay – while you still have to search rooms littered with lots of objects, you don’t have a usual list of items to search for, instead you have customers lining up to get served, each customer telling you what he wants to buy, and you have to serve 15 customers before the time runs out to earn the golden star.
The story starts out with you purchasing a building to start your own shop, but all your money goes into this purchase, so you have to earn some money to decorate and otherwise prepare your business. To raise the money, you help out local stores to serve their customers by finding out the items in the shops for them. The items clients want are actually relevant to the shop you’re currently working in. So, in a garden shop you will search vegetables, hoes, a garden gnome etc. In the magic shop you’ll look for rabbits, magic wand, top hats etc.
The hints system used in Little Shop of Treasures is not as helpful as in the other hidden object games. Instead of showing you the location of an item, it just shows you the photo of the object you’re looking for. While it helps a bit, you still have to find out where it is. Many other hidden object games offer such information for free, so it’s a bit surprising that such hints system is used there. You can collect question marks to increase your hints.
When you finish each chapter, you’ll see how your raised money help proceed with your own business – you’ll see better windows in the shop you’ve purchased, new coat of paint, plants added etc. A nice motivation to finish the levels to see what else will be upgraded.
Conclusions: Little Shops of Treasures is a nice hidden object game, with a well-polished hidden object concept implemented with just a right amount of novelty added. The game lacks a bit of variety – no mini-games, repeating locations with objects placement mostly the same, a bonus Blitz mode is unlocked only when you almost finish the game instead of being available sooner. But other than that, it’s a very enjoyable experience.
