Mae Q’West and the Sign of the Stars review

This is one good hidden object game where a woman is in search of her husband and she gets the clues from the messages that her daily horoscope bears. Mae Q’West uses some bright ideas to rev up the things and the effort is worth applause. But there are few negatives in the game that just removes the shine from the game.

The introduction to the game lacks the luster that most games in its genre have. Actually, the game starts with a shabby introduction in the form of typed letters and the story is narrated. Mae Q’West is a mother of two and has recently lost her husband Jack who disappeared in the sea. As she reads through the daily horoscope in a newspaper she finds that the horoscope is telling something more than her daily predictions. The horoscope seems to provide clues and tell her that her husband may be alive.

Steve and Sylvia both friends of Mae Q’West helps her to gather the clues and investigate the mystery behind her missing husband. This leads you on to the trail of long searches and you will be visiting various locations like shops, restaurants, garage etc. to find the hidden objects presented in a list. You may also be required to spot differences.

Initially, you will have a shopping list and you will be able to earn money by finding the items on the list. The money can be used to get hints and the penalty for random clicking is the loss of money from your account. The stars and cash that you collect can be used in between two levels to purchase Zodiac constellations and when you end up buying all of them, you will be able to unlock a very special prize.

After you have finished finding a certain number of items then you can click on solve to advance to the next level. So you can opt to play the game a little more casually. You can earn additional stars by clicking on the mini games and playing them. You can use the ‘Shuffle’ button to get new items in case you can’t find a particular item. There is also help available from your friends in the form of text messages.

Conclusion: The biggest drawback of the game is that you need to do too many things at a single go and things become a little too confusing. It is not very tough to spot the items barring the occasional items that are inexplicably small and sometimes it becomes difficult to spot them. The quality of English language is not of a very high standard and this is what causes a lot of problem during the Crossword Puzzles. It is a real lengthy story and there is the option to skip the dialogues if you wish to do that. The whole story could be read by clicking on “Novella” in the main menu. The other drawback of the game is that you can never have two games running simultaneously because every time a new game is started, it is done by erasing the old one; you lose the progress that you had made. This is the reason why the Mae Q’West is not a very good quality hidden object game.
