Margrave Manor 2: The Lost Ship review

Remember Edwina Margrave who showed the courage to enter in the haunted Mansion to reveal the family history. The sequel “Margrave Manor 2 The Lost Ship” is a continuation of the courageous tale where Edwina tries to dig deeper into her family history as the ship belonging to her grandfather becomes the focal point of the search. The sequel is much better in terms of the graphics, but has a few downsides as well. The only thing that I couldn’t bear with is that the developers have shown no urgency in clearing the glitches that existed even in the first part.

In this part of the story Edwina is not alone and she is accompanied by the charming Mr. Thomas Raynes. Both of them go to the ship in order to find out the clues that would lead them to the treasure named Neptune’s Gold. They need to search quickly for the treasure in the dirty and clumsy sheep as it is not going to hold on for a longer period of time. The clues from the ship not only would lead them to the treasure, but also unveil a few secrets about Edwina’s grandfather. Though her grandfather had many accomplices but not all had the right intentions.

The game has a total of 20 stages, 6 search screens and several mini games. The gameplay consists of searching the cluttered rooms for the items that are mentioned in the list. The list of items are displayed at the bottom of the screen and as one goes on clicking one item after the other, more items get added in the list. There are two modes of gameplay; one is the Story mode and the other is the Freeplay mode. In the Freeplay mode, one is able to play only the stages that have been unlocked in the Story mode, but one won’t get any reference to the story and has to follow the straight path of searching the hidden objects. The good news is that there are no times in both the modes.

This game has an amazing hint feature wherein you are provided with a hint every three minutes irrespective of the number of items you have found. As expected the hints are not carried forward to the next level. Every time one screen is completed you would be required to complete the task of assembling a word and then you are provided with the next missing link in the story and this is how the game progresses.

Conclusion: Margrave Manor 2 is a game that neither creates a very long lasting impression on you nor can you throw it in the trash. The storyline and graphics are the two USPs of the game, but there is a genuine lack of variety that takes away the sheen from the game. Taking into consideration the long gameplay, the developers should have at least thought about introducing new items when the levels are replayed. The mini games are challenging to a certain extent but do not have the charisma to keep you stuck to your screen. It’s highly recommended to play the demo before buying the game because people who look for variety may get frustrated with this missing element.

Online Demo: There is an Online Version Of Margrave Manor 2 available. Check it out if you don’t want to download the full version game – it should give you enough impression to judge if you want the full version or not.
