Nancy Drew Dossier: Resorting to Danger review

Nancy Drew Dossier Resorting to Danger is a new game in the gaming arena of hidden object games. The series is interesting and it is full of entertainment that is enough for sticking a player to the game. After the huge success of the first game of the series, this is a new production of the series. The game has a strong storyline which goes thus: according to Nancy’s word, players have to go surreptitiously at the Redondo Spa for stopping a bomber. The rich clients will not support to disclose the facts though the bombs are mere pranksters.

The challenge to Nancy is to catch the criminal at the time of catering to the customer’s unconventional requests in the Spa and simultaneously diffuse the bomb. All people are suspected here starting from celebrities to the receptionist. There are numerous things like the sparkling magnifying glass system to eliminate the search of the false clues, rewards and six different ending as per the choice player’s. Everyone working at the resort wants to damage the business for their personal interest. So, Nancy has to keep guessing who the culprit is. This type of characters are unique in the Nancy drew game.

As in the first game, the goal is to complete each scene by finding the object and to pair them with other objects. This is not a tough task as the objects to be found are listed and a sound will appear whenever you will drag your cursor to the important clue.

You need to use the found objects and this is one of the interesting puzzles (though not named so) in the game. For instance, you have some tape, a phone, a shabby business card and a password for the computer. You will find that the computer will inform you that you are going to find the password in a cell phone. So, she uses the business card to find the cell phone number, dials the number and finds the dial tone in the phone. Then the password is recovered for logging on to the computer. At times, you may lose interest in the game and it is may feel like just mimicking the rules and following them. The clues given here are easy to refer and the instructions are clearly given what to do. If you don’t understand the instructions, just take the mouse over the text and that will be elaborated. There are lots of hints in the play and therefore it will be easy to play the game.

Another great improvement in the game is the user friendly interface at the bottom. In the first game, the actions had to shape whether you should pull, flip or look. Here, if you need to look at something, an eye icon will be created automatically. The actions are variable from scene to scene.

The mini games in the game are more interesting than the first one. Here the tile swapping game, the fun facial series are given to keep Nancy drew busy. Only one mini game is timed for building a connection between the two points. This is worth replaying until you finish it without penalty. Here, the conversation plays an important role as Nancy has to listen to everything that is being said and accordingly you have to do the task. Brains are in demand in this game!

Conclusion: The game has all the great features of a hidden object game and it fulfills all the requirements of a great game. Watch your back while taking a trip with Nancy (you have the bombs coming from the back). The developers have presented us with good graphics and this aspect is even well complemented by the great sound effects. Timed mini games can take away interest from playing them (I somehow held patience to complete all). At times you may even feel like quitting the game just because of the mini games. One standalone positive attribute of the game is its intelligent dialogues. But, the bombs disarming are rather repetitive and this takes away the sheen from the game. The use of the same mini games as the first in the series reflects nothing, but the laziness of the developers.
