Pahelika: Secret Legends is an adventure game that would certainly win your heart. I say this with such confidence because it has at least won my heart! Most of the adventure games that we come across comprise of the toughest possible puzzles and it seems as if they have been designed to keep you confined in one stage for ages. But there are also exceptions and Pahelika is one such exception. This does not mean that the game fails o pose any challenge in terms of the puzzles, but they are meant to be solved!

The story starts with a book that has takes you to several magic lands where you are the one who has to come back to the home, but not without sweating it out. You will have to solve the puzzles to move from one portal to another. The puzzles do not follow a straight path and you would have to solve the simpler ones as well as the complex ones like assembling a fire starter etc. You need to utilize all the possible items in a room to solve the puzzles.

The hint system in the game is one of the best offerings of the game as the items that you require become highlighted when the mouse is hovered over them. There are also a few locations where in you would be instructed to find out the specific hidden items. The game ensures that you hardly ever leave the room as all the times that you require for the puzzle are hidden somewhere in that room only. There is no way to go back to the room once you have left it to solve the puzzle and if you have forgotten something important to pick from the room, there is no chance of getting back!

There are some puzzles in Pahelika that are going to drive you to your wit’s end as you can hardly think of a way to solve the puzzle. You need to pick up items that are so well concealed that you are bound to get confused. If you feel that the developers are a little harsh then consider this: Ironcode (the developers) have placed a walkthrough on their site and you can easily find solution to the difficult scenes.

The game has good graphics with comic style cut scenes and even the voice overs are good. The vice acting is good but the pace of the game is really slow at times and this can be rally frustrating. The developer’s could have thought about enhancing this feature of the game by speeding it up a bit.

Conclusion: Brushing aside the small but irritating problems in the game there are a lot of things that make the game a fun to play. The mini games are a good challenge and this is what one wants from an adventure game like Pahelika. There are a lot of places where you would really feel great to have been playing such a game. The graphics and music of the game is one of the biggest attractive features of the game. This is an adventure game that scores quite some gamer points from the veteran gamers like us.
