Righteous Kill 2: Revenge of the Poet Killer review
Sequel to the first part of Righteout Kill, the Poet Killer is on a brutal killing spree while leaving behind a trail chilling notes at the murder site. Erica is a NYPD detective (Vigilante Unit) who is out there to get hold of the killer and put him into the court of law. Erica picks up from where she left in the first part and is determined not to let the killer enjoy a free run. Many people would believe that the game has something to do with the Al Pacino film but it’s otherwise. There was no connection between the game’s first part and the film; the same is also seen in the sequel.
Righteous kill 2 requires that you visit the numerous locations in search of clues. You will be visiting places like the office, Chinatown, warehouse and will be searching for clues in the scenes. There is also an interesting aspect of ‘hot spots’ in each scene where you will be able to zoom in on a particular portion of a scene. The interesting part of the game is that there are various items that can be used in other scenes. For instance, you can use the cotton swab in a different scene for testing blood samples. You can play the game in a relaxed frame of mind because there is no timer in the game and you can use your own sweet time to see to it that you complete all the stages with ease. There are numerous hints and you can use them within short intervals.
There are many other tasks besides searching for hidden objects like the getting fingerprints, comparing the bullets in laboratories and also assembling the damaged documents. There is also another task wherein you are required to compare the footages from the 4 security cameras installed in a building. Now, these activities are certainly going to up the challenge level and also help you to enjoy something offbeat.
There are a total of 11 scenes for you to investigate and the Righteous Kill 2 is longer in comparison to the first part. This is the only aspect that can make you feel as if you are playing the game for ages. A few moments are there in the game that may make you feel as if you are nothing more tan a rag picker rather than an investigator. The reason is that you keep on colleting scraps from various locations while the murder will be enjoying his kill-bill.
Conclusion: The story is captivating but the dialogues fail to complement it in a proper way. The graphics is not up to the mark and has been poorly executed with the help of cutscenes without any proper animation. The second part is definitely better than the first but still couldn’t reach the standard of the games that are already doing good business in the market. Righteous Kill 2 is a good game to start your hidden object genre and we can promise that there are a lot better games in wait!
