Sprill and Ritchie: Adventures in Time review
Sprill & Ritchie: Adventures in Time is the latest hidden object game from the Alawar stable that is going to send you on a roller coaster ride criss-crossing various time zones. The central protagonist Ritchie invents a time machine and life is all hunky dory for him until the items from various time zones get swapped. The game commences with the character of Sprill, who recalls his trysts with magic pearl and malicious aliens. As of now, he feels the worst of the adventures are behind him. Ritchie then invites Sprill to share his latest discovery- of the time machine. However, as the machine is assembled, things go haywire, with items from different time zones are misplaced. In an attempt to make amends, Ritchie teams up with his reluctant foxcub friend to restore the events in history. As a classical hidden object game, it is a top draw. The game is engaging, has twists, and every object in the game has a definite purpose. It’s not like the usual games where you have to just click at objects randomly. There are as many as 55 mini-games, all of which are unique and engaging. However, those who don’t want to complete the mini games can skip it and continue with the game. Hints are renewable and unlimited, and the game has dialogues to move your way through the course of the game. The objects are scattered across 33 levels, which adds to the sense of excitement and adds to the adventure-feel of this game.
Apart from the mini-games, Sprill & Ritchie has additional challenges that are bound to keep you on your tenterhooks. For instance, you have various trophies to unlock and earned through the course of your game. There is an incentive to finish every mini-game within the stipulated time frame. This adds to the intrinsic replay value of the game. As far as the premise of the game goes, it’s not only engaging, but also humorous. The background score is another high point of this game. The gameplay in any case is unique and upbeat. The animation is the only area that can be improved and some of the voices to the 3D mouth moving critters are way below the mark.
Subtitles are easily available for all dialogue, leaving sound an optional setting. Tutorials and directions are easy to follow and are not tedious. The truth of the matter is that most of these mini games are pretty cliché. As far as the gameplay is concerned, since it cris crosses various time zones, it has an interesting mix of elements that are really unique and fun. Spanning from Stone Ages, to the distant future, the journey is one roller coaster ride that will surely take your breath away.
Conclusion: All in all, Sprill & Ritchie is a welcome addition to numerous hidden object games that has hit the market. It would be a welcomed addition to the game collection of any HOG or adventure gamer of any age.
