The Hardy Boys – The Perfect Crime review

In today’s era of computer gaming only gamers can decide whether a game gets a good or bad certification. Whether the game is good or bad can only be confirmed once we have sat through it entirely. The Hardy Boys: A Perfect Crime is one such adventure hidden object game that truly confirms the above and can be safely said to have been developed in poor taste.

The game starts off with the two teenage male detectives who are on a summer break from school and are investigating on a missing motorcycle. The detectives communicate among themselves through dialogue bars that tend to scroll up and this is very frustrating to the gamer. The faces of the characters cannot be seen during the scenes and this takes away the sheen of the game. The game is divided into many chapters and the gamer needs to find some hidden objects, which serve as the key evidence. Many objects are connected with the story however at times they are so small that it becomes difficult to spot them. There are many objects and some of them do not fit with the storyline always. This makes the game a bit confusing for the players.

Don’t dare to stop in the middle of the game! You need to start all over again. You cannot save the game in the middle of the scene while playing. Every mini game has a set of instructions that are difficult to understand. The hints do not help the gamer much because they are not clear. The graphics are not good and the images are blurred. They make the game dull and boring. You will find both the timed and untimed modes when you start the game and changing the game mode is not allowed once you start playing.

This game really has nothing interesting for the player but the music is good while the story line is decent but not very encouraging. Some of the mini games are average and fun. The game does not have humor and this is a bit disappointing. You need to be very patient to sit and play through the whole game. It is definitely not an adventure game so don’t play this game if you are expecting some.

Conclusion: The Hardy Boys: A Perfect Crime is surely not the kind of game that you would want to spend your precious time and money on. It does not live up to the expectations of veteran gamers like us. Before buying the full version you can check out the demo to get a feel of it. Such sloppy work from a reputed gaming house like Trine Games was the least we expected (So buck up guys, you can produce something better!) While playing the game I found it to be dull, boring and a waste of money. A word of caution to gamers who still want to try out this game just for the sake of it “Be prepared to bore yourself and test your patience”.
