The Hidden Prophecies of Nostradamus review

The Hidden Prophecies of Nostradamus from the Cat’s Eye Games stable is a straight forward Hidden Object Game that has a series of engaging 8 mini-games, most of which are quite challenging. Limitations in using SKIP mean that every player has to complete a series of mini-games to complete the game. While some will find the variety in the mini-games exciting, others will find the latest variation a tad boring.

This game has nothing to boast of in terms of plot. As a player you have discovered a connection between Ryder Tarot and the Nostradamus prophecies, but the connection is only arbitrary and the Ryder cards are used to get to the next level. The game is replete with numerous anachronisms and historical inaccuracies, especially in the Hidden Object scenes that are set during Nostradamus’ times in the 16th century. However, it has its own challenges, and those who are die-hard fans of the classic hidden object games will definitely vouch for it. However, there is repetition as far as the locales are concerned and the objects move around at a random pace, so much so that there is a sense of unfulfillment as a player. The objects are large and easy to locate, and the levels become quite familiar once you move on in the game.

The challenge in The Hidden Prophecies of Nostradamus is that it is the levels are timed. However, all you need to do is locate 50 objects in 45 minutes. This is a piece of cake for most. The Relaxed Mode option doubles the time per level. The artwork is nice, with an elegant palette and exquisite detail. The background score is pretty engaging, but fail to interest you for long.

The game begins at a pretty languid pace but gets pretty engaging in the middle, thanks to the numerous min-games that keep you hooked for a while. Games like Fill-in-the-Blank types Wheel of Fortune is definitely a challenge in the beginning. With a total allocation of four SKIPs, some of you might face a new mini-game at the end of every 15 levels.

However, all mini-games are word puzzles. There are two setting levers that direct a firebolt across a grid to displace targets. Another mini-game requires players to solve four scrambled cards, which definitely requires some gumption. The rest of the minigames is pretty simple.

As far as SKIPS are concerned, the general feeling is that you will have to use at least two of them on the scrambled card puzzles; this is the most challenging and pushes you to the extreme. That leaves only two SKIPS left, which means every player will have to tackle at least two of the more difficult mini-games.

Conclusion: Overall, The Hidden Prophecies of Nostradamus is a pretty mundane game that is the usual Hidden Object game. Known for its high production values, the location tends to be repetitive and the same objects appear over and over again. This tends to test your patience after a while. This game is interesting in parts, but lacks the ingredients for a replay value.
