Undiscovered World: The Incan Sun review

Have you got really bored with all the Egyptian and the European based games? If you belong to the category of gamers that I belong to then you would love to go the save yourself the Incan way! The Undiscovered World: The Incan Sun is an adventure game where you have to visit to the Incan ruins and all you have is a map of the prehistoric ruins.

The story is narrated in first person, but you do not get a very clear idea about the main characters in the story. The primary character meets a lot of people in his journey, but the strange thing is that the story never really treats them as a character. Most of the characters are only part of conversations and after that they are not even included in any other scenes.

The biggest problem that any gamer would encounter is that other than the above part of the journey you hardly get to see anything about the Incan history. There are two statues that never change and are part of all the scenes and chapters. You are made to come back to a scene several times but still there are no changes in the scenes. The game starts with a very good story and appealing graphics. There is one big positive aspect of the game and it is that the game gets the clicks accurately. Yes, it is a big factor and most of the games miss out on this aspect. The game becomes even more challenging as you progress through the stages. It is not a big deal finding all the hidden objects and I took a minute or so in finding all along with the two statues. There are six hint coins that you can use and these can be used by the regular gamers to wrap p a scene within 2 minutes sharp. The hints can be refilled easily and they get carried forward to the next scene.

The statues that you find in each scene contain the broken pieces of the artifacts and as you go up collecting the statues, the artifact meter also gets filled. After this you are required to solve a puzzle to reveal the real artifact. You would also have to bear with the act of finding some objects that has no relevance to your quest. The game ends up by unlocking the Mini Games and Untimed mode. This is the only thing that increases the replay value of the game because you get the chance to play the scenes with different objects.

Conclusion: The game is a good one except a few slips here and there. One would find the stats to be really good and this really eggs you to play the game. It is very tough to note the clock that is placed at the corner (it keeps on ticking!) There could have been more twists and turns in the game to spice it up but seems like the developers do not wish to lengthen the story. The mini games are quite good and this helps to up the production value of the game. All in all it was a good game but still needs to improve a lot to fall in the big league.
